Barcode Fonts
Printing on Laser and Inkjet Printers
Normally when you have a barcode printer, the barcodes are created in the
printer by sending commands to them from barcode label software. But, what
do you do when printing on a laser or inkjet printer? Use barcode fonts.
Barcode Fonts in Windows
It is possible to print barcodes using fonts installed into Microsoft Windows.
Code 3 of 9 (Code 39) is probably the easiest barcode to use in this way.
When using a Code 3 of 9 barcode font, you would "surround" the data with an
asterisk (*). Code 3 of 9 uses an asterisk as the start and stop
character. This allows barcode scanners to read the printed barcode.
Download the Fonts
Many companies offer barcode fonts for download. Once installed on your
computer, you will be able to print barcodes in almost all Microsoft Windows
programs. This includes programs such as Microsoft Excel,
PowerPoint, and Word.
